Why Bailaz Exists

Most "dance sneakers" are just fashion shoes in disguise

They look the part, but they don't support the foot. The arch collapses, the fit is wrong, and dancers end up fighting pain, blisters and instability instead of focusing on their steps.

We fixed that. Bailaz shoes are co-designed with a dedicated team of podiatrists and podorthists, so every part of the shoe is built with a purpose: protect your feet, support your performance, and keep you dancing longer.

The Clinical Team Behind Every Shoe

Built with podiatrists. Refined with podorthists.

Bailaz isn't designed in a boardroom — it's designed on a clinic floor. Every model goes through a real development process with foot-health professionals before it ever reaches a dance floor.

Podiatrists
Our podiatrists assess how dancers actually move — the landings, pivots and turns that regular footwear was never built for — and shape the footbed, arch support and structure around real foot biomechanics.
Podorthists
Podorthists specialise in the fit and function of footwear itself. They work on how the shoe is actually built — last shape, width, internal volume and materials — so the support a podiatrist designs for actually holds up once you're wearing it.

That combination matters most in our Wide Fit range, where getting the toe box, arch position and internal structure right is the difference between a shoe that just "fits wider" and one that actually supports a wider foot properly.

Note: we continue to invest significantly in research and development with our podiatry and podorthist partners as each new model and fit range is developed — this isn't a one-off endorsement, it's an ongoing process.

The Problem With Regular Sneakers

Dancers don't move like runners — so why wear running shoes to dance?

  • Too much grip — ruins turns and stresses knees
  • Cheap soles — no cushioning under forefoot load
  • Narrow toe boxes — crush toes, cause blisters
  • Zero arch support — leads to fatigue and flat-foot pain
  • Fashion-first design — comfort is an afterthought
Most dance injuries start from the ground up — bad footwear leads to bad alignment, which leads to joint overload.

Made to Withstand Serious Dancing

Premium materials, chosen on purpose

Cheap shoes and knock-offs fail after a few socials. Bailaz is built differently.

  • Genuine leather — moulds to your foot and softens with wear
  • Reinforced stitching — engineered for high-repetition movement
  • Dual-layer comfort lining — reduces skin friction and overheating
  • Premium outsole — no foam breakdown like cheap fashion sneakers

Built to last, whether you dance salsa, bachata, rock 'n' roll, zouk, urban kiz, swing or Latin street.

Designed in Australia. Trusted Worldwide.

Performance by design — not by accident

Bailaz is proudly founded in Australia and developed with our podiatry and podorthist partners. Our shoes are now worn by professional instructors, social dancers, studio owners and performers in over 30 countries.

Why Foot Support Matters for Dancers

Dancing puts up to 5–10x your body weight through your feet

On every landing, pivot or turn. Without proper support, that load has to go somewhere — and it usually shows up as:

Arch collapse
Knee overload
Achilles strain
Metatarsal pain
Plantar fascia stress
Lower back irritation

Good technique starts with good foundations — and that foundation is your footwear.

Comfort Options for Every Foot

Because not every dancer is built the same

If you've ever struggled to find shoes that actually fit, Bailaz Wide Fit changes everything.
